Updated: Jul 10

Conroe, Texas - The Next Step, Inc. “The grant will allow us to empower veterans and their families with the necessary skills to thrive in a digital-first world, ensuring they are not left behind in the rapidly evolving job market," said Lakisha Bates, Director of the Professional Skills Development Program at The Next Step, Inc. "The commitment of the Texas Veterans Commission to support veterans through community organizations like The Next Step, Inc. reflects a shared dedication to quality services that enhance the lives of Texas veterans and their families."

The Next Step, Inc. digital upskilling and job preparedness training program, Microsoft Office Basics (MSOB), helps people master essential Word and Excel skills for business and build emotional intelligence for handling job transitions and workplace challenges. As a Grow with Google partner, completers of TNSI’s program gain access to a Google Career Certificate at no cost. Google launched the Google Career Certificates in 2018 to support upskilling for in-demand fields of cybersecurity, data analytics, digital marketing & e-commerce, IT support, project management, and UX design. Over 600,000 people have graduated from the program globally (250,000 in the U.S.), and 75% of graduates report a positive career impact, such as a new job, higher pay, or a promotion, within six months of completion. The program includes an employer consortium of over 150 companies, including Walmart, Verizon, and Google, that are committed to considering graduates for relevant entry-level roles.
